Musical Director

Eleanor Howat, musical director

Toccata is fortunate to have an experienced, demanding and fun loving Musical Director in Eleanor Howat. A trained singer and music teacher, Eleanor has given her life to teaching children and adults the joy of choral singing. Her childrens' choirs were renowned for the distinctive, infectious tone she generated both in schools and for the National Youth Choir of Scotland where she helped found the West Lothian training choir. Now retired from teaching Eleanor continues to spread the joy of choral singing with both Toccata and the ACE chorus. Under her direction Toccata has grown in number and stature to become West Lothian's premier choir winning two trophies in 2008 at Coleraine international music festival. Her style is best described as interactive, fast and demanding. Woe betide any choir member who spends too much time with her head in her copy!
